HOODSTOCK 2010 – Oakland Sept 4th & 5th – Los Angeles Sept 11th

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

It has been a year since the initial Hoodstock madness where Oakland’s music and art scene represented so hard that the world still hasn’t stopped talking about it. Since then the Village Voice Newspaper in New York called Hoodstock the “craziest party of the year” and the East Bay Express voted Hoodstock as the Bay Area’s “Best Underground Cultural Event.”

After showing New York what the Town is made of, Hoodstock is returning home to Oakland the first weekend of September.  The week after will be a day to remember… the day Hoodstock hit Los Angeles.

Like usually the specific location of Hoodstock is being held secret until right before the event (because it’s larger than for its own good).

If you have been hearing rumors about this Hoodstock that seem to insane to be true, they are most likely fact.

HOODSTOCK BROOKLYN – May 2010 Report Back

Friday, May 28th, 2010
Sorry it took so long… I’m still recovering!

Hoodstock Brooklyn was complete insanity. Everyone was fucking awesome and New York showed us so much love. Somewhere around 1,000 people crammed into a space we knew wouldn’t be big enough for half that many and everyone managed to live.

Pessamist and Beme represented for the town and Handsome Neto had Bedstuy going dumb for sure. Cerebral Balzy , who are coming to Oakland on the 22nd, completely fucking killed it .

If there was anyone still for some reason not absolutely dripping with sweat Japanther soaked them and were also the band that finally got me to stop stressing and just fucking dance.

Ninjasonik got everyone going crazy and with the help of Matt and Kim pushed everything into absolute chaos.

Rusty Lazer and Big Freedia got everyone shaking and Freedia’s dancer’s hypnotic asses memorized a frantic crowd and then me (Miggy Stardust) and Dirtyfinger ended it with a dance party that went until around 4:30…

“Whatever you did this weekend probably wasn’t as bezerk as the Bed-Stuy version of Hoodstock, an Oakland party exported to Willoughby Avenue on Saturday that brought New Orleans sissy bounce star Big Freedia to Brooklyn.” – The Village Voice

Rebecca Smeyne took these and about 60 more for The Village Voice:

“If you were not at hoodstock tonight you missed out and I am sorry. It was an amazing show!” – Matt and Kim

A Modest Perspective

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Talk about a crazy weekend. Any time you here the term hoodstock, hide ur precious stones and get ready to forage for forties and four locos. Our small town of Oakland has been put on the map thanks to the loving support of Roberto Miguel. With the help of his crew, they have made Oakland a heavy hitter in the party scene. If last weekend had anything to do with the new party craze, we can expect chaos in our venues. All in good fun. These parties are all ages and invite people from all walks of life to join in on the carnage. With head lining bands such as hot tub and new yorks ninja sonik, u can expect a good time. As far as the next hood stock, Well lets just say lets hope NYC has enough ragging teenagers to do mass destruction! Be safe Oakland….
